Then the remedy most similar in its effects to the nature of the disorder must be used.In the first case of this series, improvement occurred for a year, under the influence of the same remedy, repeated at intervals as return of symptoms demanded.In this time pregnancy, parturition, and lactation aroused no increased disturbance, but the improvement continued throughout. This should encourage others to expect benefit from treatment even when serious conditions are present.The change from progress to decline, after the first year of treatment would appear alarming except that the prescriber learns to welcome any symptoms that develop as a guide for treatment, the symptoms forming the image of the remedy which the patient requires.Developing symptoms indicate the power of the system to express the internal disorder; reaction of the patient to the remedy thus demanded measures the ability to recover.In this instance the reaction was all that could be desired after the administration of Calc. carb.When its influence appeared to cease, localization of the disorder in the glands occurred, with more activity there.Then again the remedy most similar in action to the process of local degeneration-no other characteristics of the patient being present-continued the work of restoration.The records of these cases are but outlines for the study of the doctrines, but for the ambitious student who wishes to master the application of the doctrines, they form a sufficient text.

I'm a chiropractor with some formal training in homeopathy and before purchasing this book I was pretty much at a loss as to how to integrate acute homeopathy into my practice. This book changed everything. I now have a pharmacy of over 100 remedies that I use on a regular basis. I now have a foundation onto which I can add knowledge gained from practical experience. By seeker Because my husband is a Homeopath, I came across this book and couldn't put it down. It really shows the different constitutional types, in the thinking and feeling processes. It's farely easy to find your own through reading the book, and shows how much of how we act in in our typing. I really enjoyed this information, and shared it with friends who also found great value in it. In the book "The Complete Guide to Homeopathy", there is a good test for quickly finding out your consitutional type also. Its a good combination book to go with this book. This book should really only be used by a trained and certified homeopath, but it does provide fascinating reading for us laypersons. By Laura Haggarty This book, along with the Balch & Balch (Prescription for Nutritional Healing) are my two bibles. I have worked in the field of natural medicine for years now: managing a web site on natural medicine, as an energy healer, and as a lay homeopath, and find this book the one I look to whenever I feel a situation will respond well to homeopathic treatment. The book explains the concept of how homeopathy works, gives a history of its use, explains the various dosages, includes a section on constitutional remedies, covers a huge variety of symptoms, and presents snapshots of the properties of some of the more common remedies. This book is an invaluable reference for anyone who wishes to use non-invasive methods to deal with common health problems. I've had results with homeopathic remedies that were practically miraculous! They are safe, inexpensive, easy to use even for small children, and quickly effective. This book will educate you in the proper use of homeopathy for the layperson, and give you insight as to when to consult a homeopath for more in-depth matters. Having never tried any type of alternative medicine before, I was very skeptic. However,since this co-worker had already given me such useful information on nutrition and diet; I figured that I would see if this would work as well. After looking up my various ailments and then going to a homeopathic pharmacy in the suburbs for the remedies prescribed in the book, my cynicism was still not abated. However, when I started to take the remedies, the symptoms that I had experienced for months (ranging from infections to headaches to depression) were alleviated or gone. This book has been a great help to me, especially since I don't have health insurance (my status at work doesn't entitle me to an employee insurance plan and my physical profile prevents me from getting individual insurance from most insurance companies). This, along with my co-worker's help, lead me to homeopathy. Despite the fact that I have a salary that would have allowed me to pay out-of-pocket for treatment of many of my ailments, most doctors would have refused to treat me. Homeopathy has provided me with an economical and responsible alternative. This book is an excellent introduction to homeopathy. It allows the reader to be more in charge of their health. It educates the reader on homeopath terms (e.g. constitutional,dosages, and definition and content of the actual remedies themselves). It also provides information on self-help, general health and nutrition, and how to treat acute and chronic ailments. It also advises the reader when to seek the help of a homeopathic practitioner or conventional doctor. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in homeopathy, especially those who are in need of a good introduction. Bolling With three kids I need a book I can understand and find the information I am looking for as quick as possible. This book has a great index and it makes looking up remedies we need very easy. I don't have to read descriptions of 10 different ones to find what is needed. Her writing style is easy to read and she really gives a lot of information here that I haven't seen elsewhere. Part One tells the history of homeopathy, guidelines for deciding what you should be able to treat yourself and teaches how to take a case history and how to prescribe. This includes dosages, information on how often to dose, how to assess the progress and effectiveness of the remedy and explains how there are antidotes to homeopathy and tells about them. Part Two goes through a series of remedies and information on each. She tells where each comes from and lists specific information you need to decide if it is right for you. First though, she talks about the different forms each remedy can come in be it liquid, ointment or the little tablets we see in the health food stores. In Part Three she really goes over when we can self treat and when we should see a licensed homeopath. There is a case-taking questionaire and symptom checklist. There are even sample cases where you can put to test and see what you learned. The sections on labor and post-partum are some of the most informative I've read in my pregnancy. Detailed, honest, and non-judgmental, the book covers the myriad and often complicated emotions mothers may encounter during pregnancy and labor, and offers ways to deal with these issues naturally (often with simple practices like taking a bath). This book covers, in detail, several birth complications, and ways the mother can deal with these during labor. This is all done with very easy to read and matter of fact language. No foofy new-age stuff here. I wish every pregnant woman in the world could have the information contained in this book. Delfino In a simple way it tells you all the caracteristics of your child and his needs. The book is divided in specific ailments, like fevers, bruises, ear infections (the real reason why I bought it), diaper rashes, etc. and gives you all the homeopathic medicine that would suit your child depending on his behaviour. Then there are all the medicines listed in alfabethical order where it explains what they are and they are for. An A++++ for Dana Ullmann . Schmukler, the founder of the Homeopathic Study Group of Metropolitan Philadelphia and a 14-year homeopathic practitioner, begins with a breezy history and thumbnail sketch of how homeopathy works before delving into which cures to use for which ailments. And while the ailments are easy to search through (they're listed alphabetically), Schmukler's remedies read like riddles sent via telegram. Excellent resource, very accessible and current By Sammy108 I found this to be an excellent resource for basic homeopathy. It is written clearly, and is full of information, however, very easy to read. I read it in a weekend, and figured out some very beneficial remedies for myself. It includes a reference by illness, as well as a guide to some of the more common remedies. It covers common problems, as well as life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Also includes sections on newer, exotic and as-yet-undiscovered illnesses (such as antibiotic-resistant strains, anthrax, influenza, etc), as well as sections on simple way to make your own remedies. The history and success rate of homeopathy are very impressive... Homeopathy is also fast acting, and very inexpensive (averages around 8 cents per dose). I never knew the AMA was formed by physicians in reaction to the high success rates and low cost of homeopathy... not surprised. Anyway, I think it's an excellent book.
